TeleFOT, as a European Large Scale collaborative project, aims to assess the impacts that the functions provided by in-vehicle aftermarket and nomadic devices have on safety, efficiency, environment, mobility and user acceptance.

TeleFOT was launched on June 1st 2008 in response to a need recognised by the European Commission to test the impacts of driver support functions on the driving task and driver behaviour in particular by involving large fleets of test drivers in real-life driving conditions.
Traffic Information, Speed Limit Information, Static and Dynamic Navigation Support and Green Driving Support are among the functions chosen in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of the safety, efficiency, quality, robustness, user- and eco- friendliness of these in-vehicle systems.
PROJECT ORGANIZATION
As a Large Scale Project, TeleFOT is divided into five Sub-Projects:

In SP1 (Coordination) management procedures are used to ensure that decisions are clear and shared among the partners, receiving support from the Core Group and the EU team.
In SP2 (Framework) a detailed TeleFOT Manual has been created to guide the activities, firstly based on the FESTA general handbook, then, constantly updated with data collected.
SP3 (Field Tests) coordinates three Test Communities (in Northern, Central and Southern Europe) to assess the introduction of nomadic devices to the vehicle environment. Data collected are analysed in SP4.
SP4, Evaluation and Assessment ensures an appropriate analysis of data collected, in order to identify the impacts of aftermarket and nomadic devices/functions.
In SP5 Dissemination, user awareness and exploitation activities are coordinated by UNIMORE, also supporting liaison among all subprojects and raising awareness of its goals and results since the earliest phases of its activities. To support this aim, a Media Center has been created at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, under the responsibility of the project Dissemination Manager, Roberto Montanari.
